In recent years, Thailand has been one of the most popular tourist destinations for travelers. From dream islands to fine sandy beaches, the Andaman Sea is full of heavenly places. These exotic locations have been and still are used as settings for prestigious movies like James Bond and others. However, despite mass tourism, there are still unknown places in this paradise of the Andaman Sea. They deserve to be visited and are worth the detour.
Preserved islands
Some of these islands are still quite unknown to the public, as access is not easy. They are called the small island paradises of the Andaman Sea. Indeed, on Koh Phra Thong, also called "ghost island", all is calm and tranquility. It is located in the southwest of Thailand. Koh Phra Thong means "Golden Buddha", because according to a local legend, a sculpture of Buddha would be buried by pirates in this island. The place resembles the savannahs of Africa: presence of wild animals such as leopard cats, deer or various exotic birds. It is a rich and multicolored fauna. The island is home to a few hundred fishermen. It does not have any large hotel or ATM.
Paradises at the end of the world
This is also the case of the islands of Koh Yao Noi, and Koh Yao Yaï. Here, mass tourism is not yet present. Unlike the city of Phuket on the island of Phuket which is very famous and very touristy, these two islands are quiet and calm. There is no traffic that could disturb the serenity of the place. A motorcycle is enough to go around the island. Moreover, the sea is of oil with in the surroundings, a multitude of islets. A forest of rubber trees covers the vegetation. Grey buffaloes and goats graze everywhere.
Rich and varied seaside resorts
The island of Ko Ngaï is a real postcard. It is very long, with a long dreamy beach on its east coast. Offshore is a beautiful coral reef accessible from the beach. It is the same for the island of Ko Kradan. These islands are part of the resorts of the Andaman Sea. Moreover, they are ideal places for snorkeling. There are no crowds or villages nearby. Everything is peaceful, far from the tourist noise.
